I‘ve been thinking about this since 2008! I can‘t be the only one wondering the same thing. I think more writers should talk about it, in their fictions, instead of skating around it - no matter if his mate is black or not. Not because it’s a race thing but because it was a decision he made and to figure out where he stands now that he is no longer that soldier anymore.
